Savannah Red Rice

Total Time: 2 hrs Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium green pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (16 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3 teaspoons creole seasoning
  • 1/2 lb kielbasa, chopped
  • 1 cup uncooked rice, , cooked and cooled

Recipe

  • 1 fry bacon until crisp and remove from pan and crumble.
  • 2 in remaining bacon fat, saute onion, green pepper and garlic until tender add creole seasoning and cook another 2 minutes.
  • 3 add bacon, kiebasa, tomatoes and tomato sauce and simmer for about 1 hour.
  • 4 start with part of rice and mix with sauce and keep adding rice until all is mixed in well.
  • 5 put in 9x13 pan and cover and bake at 350 for about 30 to 40 minutes.
