Perfect Pie Crust

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups butter flavor crisco, chilled
  • 1/4 cup butter, chilled
  • 1/2 cup ice water
  • 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 cubed the crisco and butter into small pieces.
  • 2 in a large mixing bowl, with a hand mixer, beat the flour and salt together on lower speed for about 30 seconds.
  • 3 add the crisco and butter and beat on medium until the mixture becomes meally.
  • 4 stir together the water, vinegar, and vanilla (optional).
  • 5 pour in the water slowly until the dough comes together.
  • 6 pour dough out onto plastic wrap and wrap.
  • 7 refringerate for at least 30 minutes or up to over night.
  • 8 use as needed.
