Peachtree Street Gingerbread Cake

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups cake flour, sifted
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup hot water
Recipe
- 1 sift flour, soda, spices and salt together.
- 2 cream the butter; gradually add sugar. cream well.
- 3 add beaten egg and the molasses; blend thoroughly.
- 4 stir in sifted dry ingredients alternating with hot water.
- 5 beat until smooth after each addition.
- 6 pour into a greased 9"x9" shallow pan, and bake at 180c for 45-50 minutes.
