Texas Hash

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons chili powder, to taste
  • 1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes, with liquid
  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 1 can sweet corn, with liquid
  • 1 cup water, plus additional as needed
  • salt
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Recipe

  • 1 saute ground beef in large skillet or dutch oven with garlic.
  • 2 add pepper.
  • 3 add onion when meat is close to being done and saute until onion is nearly trasparent.
  • 4 add remaining ingredients, except the cheese.
  • 5 stir and reduce heat to low and simmer covered until rice is done.
  • 6 add water if necessary.
  • 7 remove lid and spread cheese.
  • 8 let cheese melt and serve.
  • 9 may freeze leftovers.
