Texas Chili

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 4 lbs lean beef or 4 lbs chili-style ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic cloves (1/2 teaspoon powdered)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon mexican oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 2 cups water
  • 6 tablespoons chili powder

Recipe

  • 1 heat oil in a large dutch oven or pot over medium heat. add your meat.
  • 2 brown meat and drain grease.
  • 3 add the onions, garlic and cook until onions are translucent.
  • 4 add the remaining ingredients and stir well.
  • 5 bring to a boil then reduce heat so that the chili simmers. simmer uncovered for 1 hour stirring occasionally.
