Grilled Bacon-onion Appetizers

Ingredients
- 2 large sweet red onions
- 12 slices hickory smoked bacon
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
- fresh ground pepper
Recipe
- 1 cut each onion into 12 wedges.
- 2 cut bacon strips in half widthwise.
- 3 wrap a piece of bacon around each onion wedge and secure with toothpicks.
- 4 place in an ungreased 13-in x 9-in. x 2-in dish.
- 5 combine the brown sugar, vinegar, molasses, fresh ground pepper and barbecue sauce.
- 6 pour 1/2 cup over onions.
- 7 cover and refrigerate for 1 hour, turning once.
- 8 cover and refrigerate remaining marinade for basting.
- 9 drain and discard marinade.
- 10 grill appetizers, covered, over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, turning and basting frequently with reserved marinade.
- 11 enjoy.
