Traditional Southern Fried Chicken

Ingredients

- 1 whole cut up chicken
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 2 cups self rising flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup oil (for frying)
Recipe
- 1 marinate chicken in vinegar for a minimum of 1 hours -- overnight is better.
- 2 mix flour, spices, and baking powder.
- 3 heat oil to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
- 4 coat chicken in flour mixture.
- 5 brown on both sides; cover.
- 6 fry 15 minutes one side.
- 7 fry 15 minutes other side.
- 8 take off lid.
- 9 fry 5 minutes extra to crisp.
