Red Velvet Loaf

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup crisco
- 1 cup butter
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 5 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups cake flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 ounce red food coloring
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 (1 lb) box confectioners' sugar
Recipe
- 1 cream together crisco, butter and sugar.
- 2 add eggs one at a time.
- 3 add vanilla and red food coloring.
- 4 sift together the flour, baking powder, cocoa and salt.
- 5 add alternately with milk.
- 6 beat until smooth.
- 7 bake in tube pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- 8 for icing, blend together cream cheese and confectioners sugar.
- 9 spread on cooled cake.
